The majority of this construction is being paid for by District capital funds that have accumulated over a number of years. 

The Port of Walla Walla Commissioners approved a $200,000 Non-Economic-Economic Development Sales Tax Fund (EDSTF) grant to Walla Walla County Rural Library District – Touchet Library Construction. This grant is intended to be used primarily for enhancing the outdoor grounds of the library. 

The Jean Marie Sansom Memorial Library will be at 82 Champion Street in Touchet, right next to Touchet School District. The land was purchased in 2019.

 We are pleased to announce that there is now a draft for the proposed building structure!

Construction is slated to begin April 1, 2024.

Cliff Thorn Construction (CTC - general contractor) estimates 200 working construction days for this project. They estimate substantial completion of construction by October 2024.

 Walla Walla County Rural Library District estimates opening to the public by the end of 2024 or very beginning of 2025.
