Can I get e-books and other digital material through this library?
Yes! The WWCRLD loans most of our eBooks and eAudiobooks through two apps. The first is the Libby app courtesy of the Washington Anytime Library, an online consortium of digital materials run by the state library. The second is Hoopla, an app/streaming service that offers eBooks, eAudiobooks, video and music streaming, and more. Ask library staff for information about how to download materials to your device(s).
Can I renew my items?
If no other users have holds on the item, you may renew it online or by calling (509) 516-1195.
Can I use library facilities for my personal/group/club etc. meeting?
Any individual may reserve meeting rooms or quiet study rooms as long as the gathering will be free of charge and not partisan, commercial, or otherwise exclusionary. Meeting room use is at the discretion of the branch supervisor and District Executive Director. For more information, please see our Meeting Room Policy.
Do I need to provide proof that I cannot get to a library branch?
We do not require proof of need; however, we cannot switch service types back and forth from mail order to in-branch services more often than every 6 weeks.
Do you have a Mobile App?
Yes! Our mobile app is available for apple and android devices. Search the app store of your choice for 'Walla Walla County Libraries.'
How do I log in, place holds, and manage my account online?
On our catalog page, log in with the account number printed on the back of your library card and use the last four digits as the password. Please see our series of how-to videos for step-by-step instructions for managing your account online.
How do I order or place holds?
You can place holds one of three ways: by logging into our online catalog, by calling (509) 516-1195 and speaking with a library staff member, or by filling out the paper reorder form that will arrive with your order.
How do I return my materials?
Shipments come with a return label which you can attach on top of the shipping label on the original packaging. Alternatively, all WWCRLD branch library drop boxes are open 24/7 for returns.
How do materials get to me?
Materials come in waterproof mail envelopes.
How long does it take to receive my items?
When we have received all of your holds or enough to fill a mailing envelope, the items will be checked out to your account and shipped. From that point, it can take up to two weeks for them to arrive in the mail. This time frame is taken into account when we set the due dates for your items.
How many items can I check out at a time?
Mail order items are limited to 5 at a time.
How much do library programs cost?
Library programs are free of charge unless specified (which is very rare).
How much does a library card cost?
Residents of rural, unincorporated Walla Walla County and the towns of College Place and Prescott are eligible for a WWCRLD library card at no cost. Non-residents may purchase a card for $40 per calendar year for full access to services and materials at all branches. Visit any branch or click here to learn more.
I want an item that you don't have.
If you don't see something on the shelf of one of our libraries, it may be at a different branch! Ask a librarian or search our catalog online to find and place holds on specific items. If we don't have the item you want in our collection, you may make purchase suggestions on our website or by phone with library staff (click here for branch-specific contact information). Please note that these items may take longer to receive.
I'd like to volunteer for the library. How do I do that?
Thank you for your interest! You may download and complete the Volunteer application and return it to us. Please also read the Volunteer Policy. We will keep it on file, and if volunteers are needed for a library event, job duty, or activity, we will consider your application.
Is there a cost?
This program is free for eligible patrons. WWCRLD does not charges fines for late materials. However, if an item is lost or damaged, patrons are charged a replacement fee, and their account is blocked until cleared.
What about computers? Do you have Wi-Fi? Can I print?
Each branch of the WWCRLD has Wi-Fi available for public use. Contact your branch for the WiFi password. Each branch also has at least one computer for public use, and we do have print, copy, and fax services available for a fee.
What about late fees?
Good news! The WWCRLD does not charge late fees. If an item is overdue for more than 30 days, a block is placed on the account until the item is returned or paid for. Patrons will only be charged for items which are lost or damaged. If you are unable to pay for an item, please speak to library staff.
What can I check out, and for how long?
The WWCRLD has access to over 70,000 books, DVDs, audiobooks, and magazines available for check out to patrons! Each account is allowed up to 30 items at a time, 7 of which can be DVDs. DVDs check out for one week at a time, and other items check out for 3 weeks.
All materials except for Library of Things (LOT) items may be checked out through mail order services. This includes books, audiobooks on CD, magazines, DVDs, and playaways. However, some items may be too large to send through the mail, such as coffee table books. We will notify you if an item you have requested cannot be mailed.
Any library patron with an active account (card) in good standing who is unable to visit our branches for at least 6 weeks. This may be due to injury, disability, transportation, or similar circumstances.
